LOCATION : Southern Oklahoma/North Texas
Job Summary:The Asphalt Plant Manager is responsible for meeting production goals by effectively managing multiple asphalt plant craft team members and maintaining safety & quality standards. He or she manages all asphalt plant production activities including planning, scheduling, material/supply acquisition, equipment utilization and maintenance, and personnel utilization. He or she manages skilled craftsmen and works closely with project management while championing safety, fiscal responsibility, productivity, and quality.
Essential Functions:
· Manage and direct the asphalt plant production crew to meet production goals. Must understand daily production costs and production cost reports to track material quantities and resolve order discrepancies.
· Interact with owners, clients, managers, subcontractors, vendors, legal haul trucking companies, asphalt laydown employees and maintain a positive working relationship.
· Execute work plan by effectively managing crews and equipment.
· Manage daily timekeeping logs, and equipment logs, as well as complete daily reports and daily diaries.
· Educate and train asphalt plant production crew on safety, production goals, and equipment maintenance.
· Develop and mentor asphalt plant production craft personnel through training opportunities and providing accurate feedback on performance.
· Ensure operation is safe and use disciplinary actions as needed to always maintain safety. Report injuries and damages to appropriate personnel. Ensure good housekeeping through the use of toolbox talks, safety meetings, etc.
· Keep track of assets and take steps to limit vandalism.
· Knowledge of asphalt plant production, aggregate materials management, quality control, asphalt plant maintenance and asphalt plant inspections.
· Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company pick-up truck or similar vehicle to work sites, offices, and other locations as required to perform job duties.
· Recruits, interviews, and hires qualified applicants for available positions. Involved in all other personnel actions such as disciplining, promotions, demotions, and terminations.
· Effective asphalt plant production equipment utilization. Asphalt plant production operating knowledge.
Required Skills & Experience:
· 3+ years of previous asphalt plant production experience
· Supervisory experience required
· Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Must be dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented
· Job requires the following motions: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, vibration, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, reaching.
· Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
· Must be able to climb stairs/ladders daily. Must be able to climb to the tallest part of the plant via stairs and catwalks when necessary. Must be able to work at heights when required.
· Uses tools such as sledgehammer, wrenches, screwdrivers, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill, sand blaster, pipe wrench, hand shovel.
· Must be able to work nights, weekends, and 50+ hours a week as required.
· May be exposed to extremes of hot or cold weather.
