Position Summary: Outform is seeking an Industrial Designer - Beauty Retail to join our Beauty Creative Team, specializing in the creation of innovative, premium retail displays and experiences for leading beauty brands. This role reports directly to the Creative Director overseeing the Beauty Creative Team and plays a key role in bringing beauty brands to life within top-tier retail environments like Sephora, Ulta Beauty, and department stores.
This position requires a designer with an exceptional eye for aesthetic detail, a strong understanding of retail environments, and a passion for the beauty category. The ideal candidate will bring a deep knowledge of in-store merchandising best practices, combining creativity with strategic thinking to develop display solutions that captivate and convert consumers.
Responsibilities : - Develop and execute design concepts for beauty retail displays, fixtures, and in-store experiences that align with brand identities and Outform’s creative standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Creative Director, fellow designers, and cross-functional teams to ensure creative solutions meet strategic goals and client expectations.
- Translate business and marketing objectives into compelling, shoppable in-store displays tailored for retailers like Sephora, Ulta Beauty, and specialty beauty environments.
- Create sketches, renderings, 3D visualizations, and presentation materials that communicate design intent clearly and persuasively.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations, articulating creative concepts and design rationale with confidence and professionalism.
- Partner with engineering and production teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
- Stay current on beauty trends, visual merchandising innovations, material developments, and retail technology to continually elevate creative output.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Qualifications : - 5–8 years of professional experience in retail design, industrial design, or experiential marketing, with a strong focus on beauty brands and in-store environments.
- A portfolio showcasing beauty-related retail displays, pop-ups, activations, or similar projects, preferably within Sephora, Ulta Beauty, or comparable retail destinations.
- Proven experience with open sell cosmetic displays – Ulta/Sephora.
- Strong conceptual thinking, storytelling skills, and a sharp eye for beauty-driven design aesthetics.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Studio Max, Keyshot and V-Ray, or similar 3D rendering software.
- Solid understanding of materials, fabrication techniques, and production processes related to retail environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present work internally and externally.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Must be based in Southern California - Costa Mesa, CA (preferred) or Union City, CA, with flexibility for a hybrid work schedule including onsite work.
