Job Description
30 hours per week 6 hours/day (7:15am - 1:15pm) 10 months per school yearResponsibilities:
Transports food and various items both within and outside of the district.
Packing pallets for delivery ensuring safety of the load
Maintain the Child Nutrition warehouse area including the freezer and cooler
May accept deliveries and is responsible for putting items away
Rotates stock to ensure freshness
Keeps work truck clean and reports any issues with truck to mechanic
Responsible to log mileage and fuel the vehicle when needed
Follows daily delivery assignment
Preferred:
Experience handling frozen/refrigerated/dry food products.
Experience packing pallets in a safe manner keeping load balanced with the heavier products on the bottom.
Experience with use of lift gates
Knowledge of product rotation and how to do inventory.
Distinguishing Features of the Class: The work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation and care of one or more types of motorized vehicles or equipment. An employee of this class is also required to perform reoccurring manual duties related to the operation of the equipment and to the loading and unloading of supplies transported. Does related work as required.
Qualifications:
One (1) year of work experience in the operation of trucks, and/or other self-propelled vehicles or equipment. AND
Possession of a valid Class B New York State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain one.. and clean driving record.
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
Special Requirements:
Good knowledge of the operation of a variety of self-propelled equipment;
good knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of the assigned equipment;
good knowledge of the routine repair and maintenance work needed by equipment;
ability to operate assigned machine in safe and effective manner;
ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions;
ability to perform routine repairs and maintenance on equipment;
ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor;
physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Typical Work Activities:
Is familiar with and contributes to the successful implementation of the District's Mission and Belief statements;
Operates one or more trucks or motorized equipment in connection with the hauling of school district equipment and supplies;
Operates a truck to transport workmen, tools and other equipment;
Performs routine maintenance and repairs on machine to insure safe and efficient operations including washing, adding or changing fluids, changing tires, etc.
Services assigned vehicle and maintains it in clean condition;
Loads and unloads trucks;
Performs a variety of simple manual tasks, including cleaning work;
May maintain daily record of work performed;
Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
Operates a vehicle in connection with various activities related to District's operation and Child Nutrition operation.
This title in this department is subject to adjusted work hours during the winter months for the purpose of snow removal needs within the Williamsville Central School District.
