**Senior Animal Care Research Technician** Laboratory Birmingham, AL, US + Added - 05/12/2025 Apply for Job Pay Rate Low: 32 | Pay Rate High: 34 **_A growing client in research is looking to grow their team is hiring a Sr. Animal Care Research Technician! If you have 4+ years of experience caring for larger animals including non-human primates in a research field, we'd love to talk to you about this role!_** **_Pay:_** _$32-$34/hr_ **_Schedule:_** _M-F 8AM - 5PM_ **_Location:_** _Birmingham, AL_ **Key Responsibilities:** + Handle, restrain, and care for various laboratory animals, including NHPs, rodents, dogs, ferrets, and rabbits. + Administer test and control materials via multiple routes (oral, IV, IM, IP, subcutaneous) and perform anesthesia procedures. + Conduct chair training, dosing, reproductive procedures, and monitor animal health, recovery, and welfare. + Collect samples, perform necropsies, and harvest tissues according to study protocols. + Observe, record, and report abnormal findings to the veterinarian. + Set up and manage study files, randomization, and data collection in Provantis. + Assist in surgeries and sterilize instruments and equipment. + Train and mentor junior team members, monitor work quality, and act as study lead when assigned. + Develop or revise SOPs, forms, and methods as needed. + Ensure compliance with ABSL-2 and ABSL-3 laboratory requirements, including PPE and immunization protocols. **Requirements:** + Bachelor's degree in a science-related field + Minimum of 4 years of laboratory animal experience. + Experience with Non-human primates (NHPs), dosing, and chair training required. + Strong knowledge of GLP, SOPs, and safety procedures. _***This job description is a complete list of all desired skills but not all are required.
